Instead of condemning the violent police crackdown on the PTM camp in Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the KP government's spokesperson appeared to justify it. At the same time, this same spokesperson warned Punjab police ahead of the PTI D-Chowk protest in Islamabad to stay within their constitutional limits and to allow peaceful protests. How strange that he supported a crackdown in his province while demanding free and fair space for his own party in Islamabad. This reveals PTI's hypocrisy regarding democracy and freedom of assembly. Despite facing crackdowns on their own rallies and protests, the PTI has perpetuated similar tactics in their own province. This undermines their claims of championing democracy and raises concerns about double standards. Both the federal and provincial government should initiate meaningful engagement to address the region's pressing issues and promote genuine democracy.
