Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has said work to restore the road infrastructure in Karachi that was damaged due to the recent heavy monsoon rains will be completed in two months.
He stated this on Saturday while talking to the media.
Responding to queries from media persons, he said work had begun to restore the road network in Karachi damaged due to recent monsoon rains. He added that the Sindh government had released Rs1.5 billion for the purpose.
He said the Sindh chief minister would release more grants to restore the damaged civic infrastructure in various towns in Karachi.
Ghani remarked that political opponents of the Pakistan Peoples Party would continue with their criticism of the Sindh government even after the restoration of the damaged road infrastructure. “We don’t have any problem with their criticism,” he said.
The local government minister said the Sindh government would restore the civic infrastructure of Karachi to serve the people of the city in the best possible manner.
To another question, he said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had repeatedly proved the anti-state nature of its decisions.
He said that whereas every political party had the right to stage protests peacefully, the PTI, while living up to its past reputation, chose the timing of its latest agitation drive in the country to coincide with the arrival of foreign heads of state and dignitaries in Islamabad.
Ghani recalled that once the Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan had to be cancelled due to an agitation drive of the PTI.
