SWABI: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Saturday said the nation should be taken into confidence to eradicate terrorism from the country particularly the Pakhtun belt.
He was talking to reporters at the residence of a teenager Iqtidar Khan who was martyred in the Swabi City Police Station blast on September 27.
The ANP leader offered fateha for the departed soul and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.
Mian Iftikhar said terror incidents had increased manifold due to the negligence of the provincial government. He said maintaining the law and order was the foremost responsibility of the provincial government, but it had failed to do so. He said to resolve the problem of terrorism, it was important that all Pakhtuns were taken into confidence. He added that the Parliament should also be taken onboard. “It is necessary to revisit the policies and to adopt such a stance that protects the interests of the country,” he said.
The ANP leader said the provincial government was not paying any attention to the issue of law and order and terrorism. He said the provincial government was busy staging protests in Islamabad and Lahore. He said the provincial government was least bothered to talk about the constitutional amendment. He said the provincial government should take up with the Centre the issuance of the fresh National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and other steps to ensure provincial autonomy.
