MULTAN: Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali has said that 136 centres have been established at tehsil level in the province for the provision of Punjab CM’s Kisan Card.
He expressed these views while talking to the farmers present during the inspection of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Kisan Card Supply Centre here on Friday.Iftikhar Ali said that more than one million farmers had been registered for Kisan Card. The Kisan Card would be formally activated by mid of October, he told. He said that the Kisan Card can be used to purchase agricultural inputs for wheat crops. Farmers can buy fertilizers, seeds and agricultural chemicals at controlled rates from registered dealers through this card, he informed.
The secretary said that bio-metric counters were being increased at Kisan Card supply centres to save time for farmers. More than 0.8 million applications had been received under the Chief Minister’s Green Tractor Scheme, he told. Under this scheme 9500 tractors will be provided on subsidy. Under the Chief Minister’s Green Tractor Scheme, a subsidy of Rs 1 million per tractor would be provided, he added.
