ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has received references against two members of the treasury benches who are facing certain disqualification for not acting according to their parties’ guidelines.
According to references received from parties’ leadership, two MNAs, Ilyas Muhammad Chaudhry (NA-62 Gujrat) of PMLQ and PMLN parliamentarian Adil Khan Bazai (NA-262 Quetta), acted against party guidelines during the passage of Money Bill, 2024 (Federal Budget).
The references separately say that MNAs are bound to follow the guidelines given to them at the budget session. In references, immediate action has been sought against the two MNAs under the Constitution and law.
The sources said the speaker has taken the decision to forward the references to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-notify two persons as MNAs. “The references can be dispatched to the ECP at any time,” the sources said.
The sources said that Adil Khan and Ilyas Chaudhry abstained from voting on the Money Bill (budget) and acted against the party directions and thus they are facing disqualification under Article 63A of the Constitution. They kept seating on the opposition benches.
