RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Home Department has dismissed 4 employees, including the missing Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, while one Assistant Superintendent and one Warder have been suspended, while one Warder has been pardoned. The officials include Assistant Superintendent (In-Charge Psychiatric Ward) and 2 Wards. Secretary Home Department Punjab Noor Alam Mengal issued a written order Thursday.

The Superintendent Riaz Khan, Warder (Barrack In-Charge) Nasir Mehmood and Warder (Bat Duty Shift) Aamir Abbas are also included. Similarly, Assistant Superintendent (Night Duty Officer) Mahmoodul Hasan has 2 years of service and Head Warder (Patrolling Officer) Wajid Mahmood has 1 year of service. Warder (Bat Duty) Saqleen Jalal has been pardoned.

According to sources, these officers and officials were dismissed from their jobs after being found guilty in the inquiry of murder in the prison. An inquiry into the murder of Hawalati was going on in the prisoner’s cell on IG Prisons’ order. In the inquiry, 7 employees, including the then Deputy Superintendent Executive Muhammad Akram were found guilty and 4 employees were dismissed in the light of the inquiry report.

On August 30, the competent authority issued a show-cause notice to the employees and asked them to respond. The employees also appeared in the personal hearing of the Director General Directorate of Monitoring Home Department, but the Deputy Superintendent remained absent.

Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram, who was dismissed from his job, is also accused of providing illegal facilities to the ex-chairman PTI in Adiala Jail, providing him with a mobile phone and sending messages.

Deputy Superintendent Adiala has been mysteriously missing from the jail since August. For his recovery, his wife Maimona Riaz has approached the High Court Rawalpindi Bench, involving Home Secretary Punjab, Defence Secretary, Superintendent Jail, IG Punjab and SHO Police Station Sadar Baruni.
