Islamabad: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) continued its robust campaign against electricity theft in September 2024, imposing fines of over Rs25.8 million on offenders, says a press release.

CEO Muhammad Naeem Jan stated that operations targeting electricity thieves and their facilitators across Islamabad, Rawalpindi City, Rawalpindi Cantt, Jhelum, Attock, and Chakwal circles are ongoing, with no discrimination.

During the month, Iesco’s detection teams inspected more than 93,000 meters across the region. As a result, 288 individuals were caught stealing electricity through direct supply, and 28 meters were found tampered with. Consequently, fines amounting to Rs25.83 million were imposed on the offenders, and police arrested 33 individuals involved in electricity theft.

Since the launch of the anti-electricity theft campaign in September 2023, Iesco has imposed fines totalling Rs715.2 million on 14,804 offenders, with 2,020 individuals arrested. CEO Naeem Jan urged consumers to support Iesco’s efforts by reporting any instances of electricity theft to their nearest SDO office or the Iesco helpline (118) to ensure timely action.
