Over 1,906,000 served at Khidmat Marakaz

LAHORE: More than 1,906,000 citizens have received policing services from police Khidmat Marakaz across the province during last nine months.

Over 536,000 citizens obtained character certificates, more than 858,000 underwent general police verification, 4,207 availed police verification for private employees, over 144,000 registered for tenancy registration, more than 20,000 completed vehicle verification, and 122,000 received medico legal certificates.

Additionally, over 60,000 citizens reported document loss, while 4,397 registered crime reports. A total of 83,000 citizens obtained copies of FIRs, and 192 reports of violence against women were registered.

105,753 power thieves detained

Punjab Police registered 140,570 cases and arrested 105,753 accused involved in electricity theft across the province last year. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, challans for 96,800 cases were submitted, and over 20,000 electricity thieves were sent to jails. In Lahore, the police booked 45,728 accused and detained 45,242 for stealing electricity and submitted 23,314 challans and sent 12,146 accused to jails.

Orderly room for cops held

Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana chaired the police accountability session, known as the “Orderly Room,” at his office here on Thursday.This year, hearings were conducted for 2,183 appeals from police employees, resulting in warnings issued for 2,015 cases of minor misconduct, while 68 appeals were outright rejected.Police officers and personnel from various units including Operations, Investigation, Security Wing, Traffic Police, Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit and Anti-Riot Force attended the session.
