Foreign liquor recovered

HAFIZABAD: Police Saturday claimed seizing 88 bottles of foreign and local liquor and impounding a car in the area of Punj Pulla.
According to police, the police tried to intercept a car near Punj Pulla but its riders later identified as Pitras Masih and Dawood Masih sped away and left the car in an abandoned area.
The police recovered 88 bottles of liquor hidden under the seats of the car. The police have registered a case. Meanwhile, the Kaleke police arrested Muhammad Inayat of Duhatta Azmat and recovered five litre liquor from his possession.
Police registered a case against him.
HOUSE GUTTED: A fire that erupted at a house damaged costly household articles in Mubarik Colony, Hafizabad, on Saturday.
The fire caused by short circuit at the house of Mian Khan at night burnt Rs 35,000 and other articles. The Rescue-1122 firefighters rushed to the site and saved adjoining houses from damage.
DEMOTED: Tehsil Municipal Officer Haider Ali Chattha Saturday demoted Sanitary Supervisor Pitras Masih on charge of misusing his official power and misappropriating funds. After the official inquiry, the TMO demoted him to the position of sanitary worker and ordered deduction of misappropriated funds from his salary.
