RAWALPINDI: Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand on Wednesday once again ordered postponement of proceedings of indictment of former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and his wife Bushra Bibi in a new case related to acquisition of expensive jewellery of Bulgari company from Toshakhana.
The court postponed the action on the request of Imran Khan as he wanted to consult his lawyers.
Apart from the two accused and their lawyers, lawyers of the FIA were also present in the court on Wednesday. Imran told the court that he was not allowed to consult his lawyers and, therefore, he should be given time for the purpose. He stated that after consulting his lawyers, he would decide which lawyer should represent him in the said case.
The court accepted the plea and adjourned the hearing till October 5.
On the next date, the accused would be charge-sheeted. Both the accused were arrested on July 13 this year.
In another case, Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the Special Accountability Court of Islamabad heard the Al-Qadir Trust reference, based on £190 million financial scandal against Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
The court adjourned the case due to the absence of accused’s senior lawyers and cross-examination of the last witness was once again postponed. The junior lawyers told the court that the petitions of both the accused were scheduled for hearing in the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday, therefore, hearing of the reference should be adjourned for a day.
