ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Science and Technology has taken permission from the prime minister to resume the stalled process of interviews of candidates for the post of Pakistan Science Foundation chairman (MP1 scale).
Earlier, the interviews for the post were fixed from July 1 to July 3, 2024 but due to the busy schedule of the minister for science and technology, these interviews were postponed and the period of 120 days to complete the recruitment process also expired. As such, the recruitment was delayed.
In order to resume this process, it was necessary to get approval from the prime minister. It should be noted that 92 candidates have applied for the post of Science Foundation chairman. After the expiry of contract of Dr Shahid Baig nine months ago, the PSF chairman’s post is still vacant.
Earlier, the charge of the post was given to two officers for three months by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Spokesperson for Ministry of Science and Technology Joint Secretary (Organisation) Nazir Ahmed said that permission has been taken from the prime minister to resume the recruitment process for the post of PSF chairman.
