This year marks the 35th anniversary of German Unity Day. It is a joyous occasion, as it reminds us of all the hurdles that previous generations overcame to reach this point. On this German Unity Day, we celebrate the power of hope, perseverance, and solidarity that brought about the reunification of Germany. Today is a reminder of the strength found in unity and the importance of building bridges that connect us, despite our differences—something more relevant than ever, given the challenges we are all currently facing.

It has now been two years since I took charge of this mission as Consul General. I thoroughly enjoy this bustling city and the generous hospitality of Sindh and Balochistan. The traditional clothing, local music, and centuries-old culture are among the elements that make this region so rich.

The relations between Pakistan and Germany date back to 1951, and over the decades, this relationship has been characterised by cooperation in various fields, including trade, development, education, and more. One example of this collaboration is the participation of over 270 Pakistani companies in Heimtextil 2024.

A significant highlight for the Consulate General was the conferment of the Cross of Merit with Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mr. Mervyn Francis Lobo for his work at the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center in Karachi. MALC was founded by Dr Ruth Pfau, a German citizen. In 2023, Mr Lobo was also awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Pakistan's third-highest civilian honour.

In our efforts to contribute to Pakistan’s energy supply, several projects have been directed toward installing solar panels on the roofs of schools and institutions in Sindh and Balochistan.

As we reflect on this historic occasion, let us continue to strive for a world where freedom, equality, and understanding bind us together.

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Tag der Deutschen Einheit!"

Thank you!
