ISLAMABAD: Navy edged Wapda 4-3 to make it to the semi-finals of the 37th National Junior Hockey Championship here at the Bunda Ground Wednesday.
Punjab Reds, Army and Customs also made it to the pre-finals. Navy edged out Wapda in an exciting quarter-final of the day with Mohammad Waseem scoring twice while a goal each was netted by Basharat Ali and Waleed Ashraf. Hanan, Aamir Sohail and Mohammad Hussain scored for Wapda.
Army defeated Police 3-0 in the second quarter-final with goals coming from Saud Amjad who netted a brace. Mohammad Owais also scored once. Abdullah Adnan scored twice to see Punjab Reds beating Punjab Blues. Mubashir, Adeel Amjad and Aziz were the other scorers.
In yet another exciting quarter-final which happened to be the last of the day, Customs managed to overcome KPK (A) 4-3 to make it to the semis. Bilal Aslam scored twice for Customs. Semis of the championship will be played on Friday.
