ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi Tuesday called on JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman and congratulated him and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri on their unopposed re-election as the party’s chief and secretary general, respectively.
The minister also presented bouquets and expressed best wishes for the JUI leaders, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior.
Naqvi praised Fazl’s role in promoting parliamentary supremacy and democratic values and termed him a prudent, skilled, and visionary politician.
He acknowledged the JUI-F’s principle-based politics and said Fazl had rendered invaluable services for the party and Pakistan and was one of the senior most politicians.
Sources said the meeting was also part of the government’s efforts to win the JUI-F’s support on different issues.
However, the JUI media cell unlike its practice, did not issue any statement on the interior minister’s meeting with Fazl and other leaders.
Meanwhile, renowned religious scholar Dr. Zakir Naik accompanied by his son Tariq Naik met Fazl at his residence.
Fazl and other senior leaders accorded a warm welcome to the visiting scholars.
Fazl noted that Dr. Zakir Naik had been preaching Islam and defending the whole Muslim Ummah.
“It is our common objective to present Islam’s beautiful face to the world and create unity in the Muslim Ummah,” said Fazl.
