The Docks police station has registered an FIR of the rioting that occurred during a rally on MT Khan Road two days ago. Police said the case has been lodged on the state’s behalf on charges of interference in government work, rioting and terrorism.
More than 100 people, including heads of religious parties, have been nominated in the case. Police said that over 4,000 people participated in the rally, during which religious party leaders allegedly incited the participants to create chaos.
The FIR states that the rally participants opened fire on law enforcement officers and attacked them with sticks, resulting in injuries to 10 policemen, including Mochko SHO Bashir Wadho, and that the attackers also broke the windows of a police vehicle and set a motorbike on fire.
Officials said the investigation has been transferred to the Investigation Branch, which is currently tracking the whereabouts of the named suspects and identifying additional individuals involved through the available CCTV camera footage.
However, no arrests have been made yet, and further investigations are under way.
