LAHORE: The price of flour has escalated dramatically following jump in wheat cost, according to market insiders.
Wheat price has jumped substantially in recent days, prompting flour mill owners to increase 20kg flour price by Rs150 to Rs200, said Haji Yousuf, President Lahore Atta Dealers Association on Tuesday. Similarly, the price of a bag of 10kg flour bag has been escalated by Rs70 and the bag of 80kg fine flour has been jacked up by Rs500. The 20kg flour bag price now increased up to Rs1,750 from Rs1,550-1,600. Likewise, the price of a bag of 10kg flour has increased from Rs800 to Rs870, and the price of a sack of 80kg fine flour has swelled from Rs7,500 to Rs8,000. To a question, a flour dealer said that the price of one maund of wheat has increased from Rs2,500-Rs2,600 to Rs3,100 in the open market due to which the mills have increased the prices of flour.
