Rs5m for winners as President’s Cup begins tomorrow
ISLAMABAD: President’s Cup one-day cricket for departments will spring into action across five cities from tomorrow (Thursday) as the winners will walk away with a purse of Rs5 million. Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Abbottabad will host Group A matches while Faisalabad and Lahore will host Group B matches.
A total of nine departmental teams will be seen in action in the 50-over President’s Cup. The two semi-finals will be played on October 13 and 14 while the final of the tournament will be staged on October 16. All the matches will be held during daytime with the first ball expected to be bowled at 9.30am. The venues and time schedule for the semi-finals and final will be announced later. A prize pot of Rs7.75 million will be up for grabs as the winners of the tournament will bag Rs5 million while the runners-up will collect Rs2.5 million.
Higher Education Commission (HEC), Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) are placed in Group A, while Eshaal Associates, Ghani Glass, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Television (PTV) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) are part of Group B.
