RAWALPINDI: Judge Amjad Ali Shah of Special Anti-Terrorism Court No 1 on Monday handed over 93 suspects, including female PTI leader Seemabiya Tahir, arrested in 4 separate cases of vandalising police vehicles to the police on a 4-day physical remand.
During the violent protest in Rawalpindi, the suspects attacked the police, resorted to aerial firing, injured police personnel and SP Rawal. The court ordered to discharge 7 female suspects, including an 80-year-old woman, while 5 accused named in the case have been sent to jail on judicial remand. As many as 121 accused, including opposition leader of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly Khawaja Farooq, Seemabiya Tahir and 80-year-old Roshan Bibi and 11 women, were again presented in the court under tight security, where the investigating officers requested for further physical remand of the accused.
After hearing the arguments of the lawyers of the parties, the court indicted Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly member Khawaja Farooq, 80-year-old Roshan Bibi, Ayesha Mustafa, Shamsa Shah, Ghazala Wasal and Hasina Yasin among the 84 accused arrested in the case while 4 women including Anila, Farhat, Nusrat and Samina have been sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand and 37 accused including Hafiz Amir Hamza and Khalil Ahmed have been handed over to the police of the respective police stations on 4-day physical remand.
