On the fifth day of the World Culture Festival on Monday, the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) hosted the performance of a comedy play titled ‘Karachi Ka Bichhu’.
The play was directed by veteran actor and theatre director Khalid Ahmed who currently heads the theatre academy of the ACP. It was an adaptation of French playwright Moliere’s famous comedy Tartuffe in the setting of contemporary Karachi.
The story revolved around two neighbouring families, Khaans and Sindhis, and their two servants whose farcical actions made the audience laugh. The 60-minute performance thoroughly captivated the audience. The cast of the play included Fazal Ahmed Chishti, Waqas Akhtar, Usama Khan, Zubair Baloch, Arshad Sheikh, Yasmeen Usman, Husnain Falak, Asim Khattak and Jibran Khan.
The festival will offer Taleem-e-Balighan 2.0 today (Tuesday), based on Khawaja Moinuddin’s famous play Taleem-e-Balighan. Geo and the Jang group are the media partners of the ACP for the World Culture Festival.
