Child Protection Unit opens in Dir
TIMERGARA: A Child Protection Unit was inaugurated in the Balambat area in the Lower Dir district to work for the protection and welfare of children.
Ijaz Ahmad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Deputy Chief Protection Officer, Child Protection and Welfare Commission inaugurated the unit at a function.He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had the best legislation on child protection and welfare which was passed in 2010.
The official appreciated the United Nations agency, Unicef, for supporting the cause of children protection in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He underlined the role of teachers and parents in the protection and safety of children’s rights.
Programme Manager of Unicef KP Alia Harper, Salma Sohail of KP Child Protection and Welfare Commission, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dir Bashir Khan, Tehsil Chairman of Timergara Mufti Irfan Uddin and others attended the ceremony.
