MULTAN/QUETTA: The bodies of seven labourers who were gunned down in Balochistan firing incident have reached Shujabad and were handed over to their relatives on Sunday, officials said.
The bodies of the seven labourers were brought from Panjgur to Multan Airport on a helicopter where KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, PPP MNA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, PMLN MPA Salman Naeem, SSP Operations Hasan Raza Khaki and other officers received the bodies.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Panjgur Zahid Ahmed Lango and DPO Panjgur Fazil Bukhari were also present.
The bodies were brought to the Nishtar Hospital and were handed over to their families.
Later, the funeral prayers of five labourers were offered in Basti Chadhar, Basti Malook and two in Shujabad, in which Deputy Commissioner Wasim Hamid Sindhu, PMLN MPA Salman Naeem and a large number of local people participated. The bodies were buried in ancestral graveyards.
Among the slain labourers were Sajid, son of Allah Bakhsh, Faiz, son of Allah Dutta, Khalid, son of Fida Hussain, Shafiq, son of Faiz Bakhsh, Iftikhar, son of Iqbal, Salman, son of Faiz and Bilal, son of Shaukat. Deputy Commissioner Multan Waseem Hamid Sindhu said that all the dead workers belonged to Multan Tehsil. The Punjab government shares the grief of affected families, he said.
The families of the seven labourers killed in target killing staged a protest against terrorism and completely blocked the motorway M-5. The protesters also closed down Shujabad Basti Dad Interchange for all types of vehicles.
Earlier, the bodies of labourers were sent to their native area through a helicopter. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bugti, a helicopter from the Balochistan government arrived in Panjgur to transport the bodies late night Saturday.
According to Balochistan government officials, following the chief minister’s orders, the injured labourer was transferred to Quetta’s CMH.
