QUETTA: Unidentified militants attacked a construction company’s camp in the Musakhel district of Balochistan and set the machinery on fire on Saturday night.
Officials reported that the incident occurred in the Sewa Ragh area of Darg Tehsil, about one hundred kilometers from Musakhel.
Loralai Division Commissioner Saadat Hassan noted, “A dozen or more terrorists attacked a construction camp that was building a road leading to the gas company’s camp, which is engaged in the exploration of gas and oil in the area.” He mentioned that the attackers told the labourers to leave the camp and machinery, but later burnt the equipment.
The commissioner said that 17 labourers were working on the road, of whom 13 returned that night while the remaining four hid due to fear and returned on Sunday morning. He asserted that there was no truth to the abduction reports. Saadat Hassan explained that this attack did not occur at the gas company’s camp, which has been provided security by the FC. The location of the attack was quite distant from the gas company’s camp.
Another official from the Musakhel administration indicated that the attackers set fire to a total of seven bulldozers and one pickup truck. Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind reiterated that reports of labourers being abducted from Musakhel were unverified.
