The Karachi Press Club’s (KPC) literary committee held a mushaira on Saturday night to honour the late journalist and poet Ajmal Siraj.
Siraj, who was also a member of the KPC, passed away earlier this month after a brief illness. He was 56.
Esteemed poets from across the country presented their poetry at the event. “Ajmal Siraj was regarded as one of the finest Urdu poets, and this gathering is a tribute to his literary contributions,” said KPC Secretary Shoaib Khan.
The Sindh culture department provided special support for organising the mushaira. A large number of media workers and their family members attended the literary event.
Abdul Rehman Momin, the son of the late poet, also recited his poetry at the event, which was graced by major poets such as Anwar Shaoor, Fatima Hasan and Sabir Zafar.
Former KPC Secretary Alauddin Khanzada, Nasira Zuberi, Seher Imdad, Javed Saba, Fazil Jamili and Mir Ahmed Naveed also recited their verses at the Mushaira which delighted the audience.
