LAHORE: In an ongoing operation against gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has intensified its efforts by conducting raids across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.
The company has disconnected 84 illegal gas connections and imposed fines amounting to Rs2.7 million. In Lahore, the team disconnected 19 connections for illegal gas use and 14 for compressor use, imposing fines of Rs1.25 million for gas theft cases. The Gujranwala team cut off 2 connections for illegal gas use and 1 for compressor use, with fines amounting to Rs0.27 million.
In Faisalabad, 3 connections were disconnected for illegal gas use, and fines of Rs0.04 million were imposed. Sheikhupura’s regional team disconnected 2 connections for illegal gas use, imposing fines of Rs0.39 million.
In Multan, 14 connections were cut for illegal gas use and 9 for compressor use. In Sahiwal, the team disconnected 2 connections for illegal gas use, imposing Rs0.14 million in fines.The Bahawalpur team disconnected 3 connections for compressor use and 1 for illegal gas use. In Rawalpindi, 2 connections were severed for illegal gas use and 4 for compressor use.
The Mardan team disconnected 4 connections for illegal gas use, imposing Rs0.4 million in fines.In Peshawar and Karak, 4 connections were cut for illegal gas use, with Rs0.276 million in fines imposed for gas theft.
