Dr Hussain chosen as PPA’s central VP

PESHAWAR: The incumbent cabinet of Pakistan Pediatric Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PPA-KP) chapter made a landslide victory in the association’s elections held on Sunday.

All the candidates fielded by the current cabinet of the association emerged victorious with a big margin. Prof Dr Mohammad was elected unopposed as the central vice-president of the association and Prof Dr Tufail Muhammad Khan and Prof Aqeel Khan Khattak were elected as members of the central executive committee.

Dr Mohammad Hussain is currently holding the office of the provincial president of the association. For the offices in the province, Dr Gohar Amin was chosen as provincial president-elect. He bagged 123 votes against the 29 ballots of his rival, Dr Nasir Khan. Dr Wajeeha Taj was elected as vice-president (female) by securing 111 votes against Afshan Khattak, who could secure only 32 votes.

Similarly, Dr Athar Khalili was elected as provincial general secretary of the association. He got 98 votes against Dr Zia Mohammad, who got 42 ballots. For the office of treasurer Dr Jawad Ullah Khan was elected with 129 votes against Dr Aminullah Khattak’s 22 votes. The balloting was held at the Khyber Institute of Child Health Hayatabad in a cordial manner. “The huge success was a testimony of the best performance, honesty and integrity of the current cabinet of PPA-KP,” said Prof Dr Mohammad Hussain. He expressed his resolve that they would continue serving their community with the same zeal and dedication.

It merits a mention here that Association’s Biennial Elections were held simultaneously across the country for the Centre and all five branches - fedral branch (composed of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Gilgit-Baltistan) and one branch each at the four provinces. The elections in Balochistan were postponed, while at Punjab, Sind, Fedral the cabinet were elected mostly unopposed.In KP, however, toughest electioneering was seen for more than a month, which concluded in the clear victory of the current cabinet of the association.
