Islamabad’s rural schools undergoing major upgrades

Islamabad: In a significant development for education in Islamabad, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training is implementing an extensive infrastructure enhancement initiative at over 100 rural schools.

This project aims to transform learning environments for thousands of students, ensuring they have access to safe and inclusive facilities conducive to quality education, according to an official. He said key upgrades included the establishment of modern libraries, new hygienic washrooms, secure boundary walls, and state-of-the-art IT labs to enhance digital literacy.

The official added that weatherproof roofing, safe electrical installations, and ergonomic furniture designed to support focused learning were also planned. He said the renovation was slated for completion within six months, with efforts made to minimise disruption to students' academic schedules.

"Once finished, this initiative promises to significantly enhance the educational experience in rural areas, fostering greater student engagement and improving accessibility for marginalised communities," he said.

The official also said the project emphasised sustainability, involving local communities in maintenance and providing training for school staff. He said monitoring mechanisms would be established to ensure ongoing success in both infrastructure and academic performance.
