Pakistan is among the leading countries in the region when it comes to generating plastic waste. In Pakistan, in every city, big or small, and in every village, you will see waste materials. There is a dire need to manage this waste in a more organized fashion. One solution might be to better integrate the informal waste pickers into the formal waste management system.
This will enable them to carry out their work effectively, while also giving them access to benefits. This is important because, at the moment, no one is looking after how this waste is picked up and what happens to it.
