RAWALPINDI: A special judge central has postponed the hearing of the Toshakhana-II case against PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi until Monday (tomorrow).
The case was heard by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
The hearing was deferred upon the request of the FIA’s legal team, citing the blockage of roads in Rawalpindi due to PTI’s protest call, which prevented the FIA prosecutor and legal team from reaching the jail. PTI lawyer Intizar Hussain Panjotha objected to the prosecution’s request, accusing the government of using delaying tactics. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were present in court during the proceedings.
The PTI lawyer has also filed a bail application in the case. After hearing arguments from both sides, the special judge postponed the case until Monday.
Meanwhile, the hearing of another case involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, concerning the £190 million reference, was also adjourned until October 2, 2024. During this hearing, Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Usman Gull cross-examined the final witness presented by the NAB.
The court postponed the hearing until October 2 and directed Bushra Bibi’s lawyer to continue the cross-examination of NAB’s witness on that date.
During the proceedings, NAB Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi accused Bushra Bibi’s lawyer of attempting to prolong the case by asking irrelevant questions to NAB witnesses.
“NAB witnesses have appeared in court for the 26th time today, but the lawyers’ cross-examination remains incomplete,” complained NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were both present at the special court established inside Adiala Jail, where Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the Accountability Court presided over the £190 million reference hearing.
