MANSEHRA: The local government’s representatives and residents of Darband on Saturday demanded the provincial government to ensure healthcare services at the only Rural Health Centre in the town.

“The government has constructed a state-of-the-art building in the town but the shortage of doctors and other staff deprived

locals of healthcare services,” Habib Sakhi, the chairman of Darband neighbourhood council, told a delegation of district administration at the RHC in

Darband.

The delegation of district administration led by Assistant Commissioner Fahad Zia paid a visit to the lone health facility in Darband town and inspected its different departments.

“This health facility is not only without basic diagnostic laboratory testing services and shortage of doctors and paramedical staff but medicines and anti-rabies vaccines are also not short here,” Sakhi said.

“The patients in a large number come here owing to the outbreak of viral infections but return without

appropriate testing facilities and medical checkup,”

he said.

A local told the visiting delegation that people were not only deprived of basic healthcare services but local women were compelled to move far off to collect the financial assistance provided to them under the Benazir Income Support Programme.
