Pakistanis less cautious about giving personal info online than global level: survey
ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis seem less cautious about giving out personal and financial information on the Internet, but are more concerned when it comes to health.
This was revealed in a survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan and World Wide Independent Network in 39 countries of the world including Pakistan.
According to the survey, looking at the overall opinion, 48 percent expressed concern about giving financial information on the Internet. But in Pakistan, 34pc said they were cautious about giving financial information. Thirty-five percent seemed unconcerned and said there was no harm in sharing financial information on the Internet
Twenty-three percent took a middle opinion and expressed neither concern nor cautious about it. Nine percent did not answer the question.
The concern of Pakistanis about giving personal information online was also less than the global level. Globally, 45 percent expressed concern about giving personal information on the Internet.
But in Pakistan, 31pc were cautious about it, while 37pc said they had no concern about sharing personal information. Twenty-one percent took a neutral position, while 11pc did not answer the question.
On the contrary, Pakistanis are more cautious than rest of the world when it comes to sharing health-related information on the Internet. Thirty-six percent Pakistanis were cautious while sharing their health-related information on the Internet.
