The constitutional amendment bill presented by the government has become a serious source of controversy. According to reports, it contains more than 50 proposals, including the formation of a constitutional court and raising the retirement age of judges. The opposition is trying hard to delay it and the government requires a 2/3 majority to get the bill through parliament. The proposed amendments could weaken the independence of the judiciary and exacerbate political instability. Are these constitutional amendments for the benefit of the people or for political benefits?
