RAWALPINDI. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has said no chief justice in the world has done what Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa is doing here.

In an informal chat with journalists in Adiala jail, he said he said that though they (PTI) have not been given not given an NOC [no objection certificate] for rally in Rawalpindi, they would still protest. “Even if we are given an NOC, they send us outside the city and keep the roads blocked till 6 o’clock. We will protest in Islamabad and at Minar-e-Pakistan, he announced.

“The nation must now take to the streets for the sake of Pakistan. I urge people, especially the youth, to come out for their country and future,” he added.

“The PMLN and the PPP are family parties, and no one questions their party elections. Our party’s elections, however, were annulled thrice,” he complained.

The former prime minister said that the chief election commissioner (CEC) knew it well that once the election fraud was unearthed, he would have to face Article 6 (of the Constitution).

Earlier, Special Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana expressed indignation at the absence of the lawyer for the accused, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in £190 million case.

During proceedings, the court asked why the lawyer for the accused did not appear before the court? The assistant lawyer, Khalid Yusuf, told the court that Usman Gul Advocate was on the way to jail and he would reach in a while.

Counsel for NAB objected that the lawyers were not completing the cross-examination of the last witness, who had been given 25 opportunities for the purpose. Apart from main counsel Usman Gul, three more lawyers represent the accused in the reference. One of the remaining three lawyers should be summoned to complete the cross-examination, he demanded. NAB lawyers stated that the court could not be held hostage in that way. The hearing would continue today (Saturday).
