PESHAWAR: The district administration and police in Swat were informed about the visit of foreign diplomats many days before their arrival in the valley to make foolproof security for them.

It was learnt that the Home Department wrote to the commissioner Malakand and the provincial police officer on September 9, following which another letter was issued to the deputy commissioner Swat and the regional police officer the next day.

The letters asked for foolproof security for the foreign guests during their stay and travel in the valley.

One policeman was martyred and two others were wounded when their vehicle was hit by an IED on Malam Jabba Road on September 22.

The vehicle was escorting a delegation of the envoys of different countries and members of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

All diplomats remained safe after the explosion and were shifted to Islamabad.

A two-member fact-finding inquiry committee comprising senior officials will probe the bomb attack on the convoy and submit its report within seven days.

According to a notification, the two-member committee consisting of Additional Inspector General Investigation Muhammad Alam Shinwari and Special Secretary Home Department Zubair Ahmad has been tasked to submit its report to the KP government within a week.
