Steps underway to curb sale of adulterated food items: minister

DIR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Zahir Shah Khan Toru on Friday said that no one would be allowed to sell adulterated food items in the province and the government had taken several measures to curb the practice.

“Actions have been taken against individuals and elements involved in adulteration,” he told a gathering at the District Council Hall. The minister highlighted the PTI government’s efforts to develop backward districts despite the federal government’s failure to pay outstanding dues. MPA Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Yamin Khan, Gul Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Akbar, DFC Syed Nawaz, Tehsil Chairman Wari, and others were also present on the occasion.

The minister reiterated that adulteration in milk and other food items would not be tolerated.He said that the Food Ministry recently tested 583 milk samples across the province, sealing and blacklisting 17 major shops found involved in adulteration.

Toru vowed to eliminate supply chains of substandard chips, milk and other stuff.The minister said that the PTI government was committed to providing facilities to the public within the available resources.

Under Imran Khan’s vision and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s clear instructions, he said, all deputy commissioners have been directed to identify the main culprits behind ice and other drug sales. “We will bring the culprits to justice,” he added.The PTI government was working to develop backward districts despite the centre’s non-payment of dues, he added.
