ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) not to disallow any sportsperson or sports contingent (athletes, coaches, and officials) to travel abroad for competitions without the required NOC issued by the Board.
The decision was taken following the recent incident of Navy boxer Zohaib Rasheed, who was holding a blue passport, skipped during the Olympic Qualifying Round in Italy. As ‘The News’ reported earlier after the PSB September 10 board’s meeting the president and secretary of the Pakistan Boxing Federation has been banned for life for failing to obtain NOC to send the team to Italy, an act/crime which was committed many times by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). A fine amounting to Rs1 million has also been imposed on the boxing federation’s officials.
