ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the pre-filed return system for taxpayers under Income Tax Ordinance 2001. He issued instructions to start pre-filed return system of salaried taxpayers from this financial year 2024-25.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered to implement these instructions from September 23, while from 2025, the system of filing pre-filed income tax returns will also be started for businessmen (individuals).
When the salaried class logs into the FBR website, all the data of pre-filed returns will be displayed. On the direction of the prime minister, FBR is also going to automate businessmen, for which FBR has approved automation and digitization. Under this system, the tax authorities will not be able to harass those who have paid full tax, nor will they be able to demand additional tax from them. When the pre-filed return system is integrated with FBR’s automated and digitized system, neither will taxpayers be harassed nor will tax evaders get a chance to evade taxes. Automation and digitization will prevent tax evasion as it eliminates the interaction between tax staff and taxpayers.
