ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir on Wednesday heard the petition filed by six students including Amar Naeem, Shahzeb Wazir and Saba Iman to re-take the MDCAT due to out-of-syllabus questions.
The position was taken in the petition that the MDCAT was held in Islamabad on September 22, in which 26-27 MCQs out of 200 were out of syllabus. After the test, the question paper was also taken back by the examiner which should remain with the students. Students and their parents staged a peaceful protest due to the irregularities in the MDCAT. The parties have failed to maintain transparency in the MDCAT, so the court was requested to declare the MDCAT on September 22 as null and void or as an alternative relief, order be issued to give grace marks on the out-of-syllabus questions.
By issuing the stay order, the IHC has stopped Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University SZABIST from releasing the results of MDCAT.
The court issued a written order that the university should not release the MDCAT results till further order. The court issued notices to the parties for September 26. In the petition, the federation was made a party through the secretary of the Ministry of Health, president PMDC, vice chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University and chairman of the National Medical and Dental Board.
