LAHORE: The Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) Normalisation Committee (NC), led by Chairman Haroon Malik, has completed the provincial and regional elections, marking another significant milestone in its FIFA-mandated electoral roadmap.
Speaking to the media, Chairman Haroon Malik emphasised the professionalism and transparency with which the PFF NC conducted the entire electoral process. “The provincial elections represent a major milestone in fulfilling the mandate given to us by FIFA. We began with a historic scrutiny of football clubs, followed by district-level elections, and now the recently concluded provincial elections. We are grateful for the trust and participation of the football community across the country,” said Malik.
“The PFF NC organised the All Pakistan District Championship (APDC) to ensure genuine football stakeholders were involved in the electoral process. The scrutiny of clubs was a pivotal step in verifying and validating the participants, ensuring that the elections were conducted fairly,” he said.
He added that beyond its electoral mandate, the PFF NC also contributed significantly to the broader operations of Pakistani football. Malik highlighted the committee’s successful hosting of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the revival of international and domestic football activities, and the participation of the national women’s team in various tournaments. Additionally, the committee organised futsal events and conducted coaching and referee courses.
Shahid Niaz Khokhar, a member of the PFF NC, outlined the next steps in the electoral roadmap, including the formation of the PFF Congress, which will ensure a representative governance structure, and the elections for the PFF Executive Committee, marking the final phase of restoring full governance to elected officials.
Khokhar expressed his appreciation for the football community’s support and engagement throughout the process. He claimed that the success of the district and provincial elections has been widely celebrated by all stakeholders.
Malik and other NC members thanked the football community for its unwavering support. Malik reaffirmed the NC’s commitment to upholding professionalism and transparency in all its efforts to restore football governance in Pakistan. “This development brings Pakistan a step closer to the full restoration of football governance under an elected body, as mandated by FIFA.”
