LAHORE/RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted applications to deputy commissioners (DCs) Lahore and Rawalpindi seeking permission to hold rallies at the Minar-e-Pakistan on October 5 and at Liaquat Bagh on September 28 respectively.

Lahore DC office sources said Akmal Khan Bari, Senior Vice President of PTI, Central Punjab, submitted the application to the DC’s Office on Tuesday. In the text of the application, he mentioned that October 5th was the birthday of founder PTI and that’s why the district government should allow the PTI to conduct a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan ground. Akmal Khan Bari wrote that they wanted to hold the rally on October 5th from 5 pm to 10 pm.

Akmal Khan, in the application, assured that all the participants of Minar-e-Pakistan rally will fully follow all the legal regulations. He also mentioned that Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Tahir-ul-Qadri had also held rallies at the Minar-e-Pakistan, so the PTI should also be allowed to hold a rally at this site.

DC office sources said the DC Lahore Syed Mosa Raza has not yet replied to the PTI’s application and the matter will be discussed with higher authorities before making a final decision.

Meanwhile, PTI has submitted a formal request to the Pindi deputy commissioner’s office, seeking approval for a public rally scheduled for September 28.

The application, submitted by PTI leaders Ghulam Husnain, Owais Younis and Nabeel Satti, proposed Liaquat Bagh or Bhatta Chowk as potential venues for the event.

The party urged the DC to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the rally, highlighting that Pakistan’s Constitution permits political parties to organize public events. The request has been acknowledged by the DC office. DC Hasan Waqar Cheema is yet to give his response to the application.
