QUETTA: Karate Combat Champion Shahzaib Rind was warmly welcomed at the Quetta airport by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, officials and sports enthusiasts on Tuesday.
Addressing a reception held in honour of Shahzaib, Provincial Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Chief Minister’s Advisor Meena Majeed, and others praised Shahzaib for his impressive achievements, highlighting the immense talent within Balochistan’s youths despite a lack of resources. Kakar acknowledged the challenges faced by young people in Balochistan, noting that if given proper support and resources, they could excel on both national and international platforms.
Shahzaib’s victory is proof of this potential, as he brought honour to the country despite facing significant financial difficulties. Meena said Shahzaib’s success was a source of pride for Balochistan and Pakistan, and they would ensure that he receives the necessary support for future competitions.
Shahzaib, expressing his happiness at the reception, shared his disappointment about lackluster welcome in Islamabad. He recalled facing one of the toughest fighters in his recent match and said he managed to secure victory through determination.
Sarfraz Bugti also congratulated Shahzaib for maintaining his title on the global stage and assured him of the government’s full support. He emphasized that Shahzaib was a shining example for the youth of Balochistan and the future of Pakistan. He and other dignitaries invited Shahzaib to the Chief Minister’s House, expressing their delight on his success and pledging to assist him in overcoming any financial barriers in the future.
