Motorway Ambulance Service to start soon, says minister

LAHORE:Provincial Minister of Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique along with Secretary of Emergency Services Department Dr Rizwan Naseer visited the Motorway Interchange on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister said that ‘Motorway Ambulance Service’ will be started very soon in all the motorways and adjacent areas of the province. The Motorway Ambulance Service will also cover areas adjacent to 76 interchanges and 1,588 km of motorway, he added.

This ambulance service is being started to provide timely rescue services especially in case of highway accidents. He said that this is another historical welfare project of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the people of province, he added.

8th batch of student internships begins

The 8th batch of student internships has officially commenced under Punjab Police Youth Engagement Programmes which are underway across all districts.

The inaugural ceremony for the student internship programme was held at the Central Police Office, with 38 students enrolled from various degree programmes at Lahore Garrison University. AIG Training Faisal Mukhtar said that the students will be attached to various field formations in rotation groups for a duration of six weeks, where they will gain insights into field policing, crime prevention, and public service delivery projects. He emphasised that the students will receive comprehensive information about policing matters in the IT, Counter Terrorism Department, Special Branch, Safe City Authority, and Investigation Branch.

Measures against elements not paying e-challans

The Lahore traffic police Tuesday announced strict measures against vehicle owners for not paying e-challans. According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar, in the first place notices would be issued to the owners of such vehicles.

The CTO said in this regard notices had already been issued to a private company whose vehicles had committed 1,319 e-challan violations and it owed millions in unpaid fines. She said traffic police teams have been deployed on The Mall, Jail Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Ferozepur Road, and Wahdat Road to nab violators.

In a significant move, owners of vehicles with outstanding e-challans will be barred from accessing police services. The traffic police are currently issuing e-challans for 19 different violations. The CTO also ordered a crackdown on individuals tampering with vehicle number plates to avoid being fined.
