A teenage girl and a woman allegedly committed suicide in different parts of the city on Tuesday.
According to the police, a 17-year-old girl was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her home in the North Karachi area. The police said that the girl was disheartened after her parents arranged her marriage with someone else, despite her desire to marry a boy of her choice.
In a separate incident, the body of a woman was discovered in a house in Shadman Town, Malir’s Saudabad area. Police and rescue teams transported the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased was identified as Shaheen, 45, wife of Naeem. The police stated that Shaheen allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself, but the reasons behind her action were still unknown. Investigations in both cases are ongoing.
