Pacers Khurram, Jamal declared fit ahead of England series

LAHORE: Khurram Shahzad and Aamir Jamal have been declared fit for selection ahead of the much-anticipated Test series against England.’

Board sources confirmed Tuesday that both pacers are back to full fitness and could be included in the squad, which is expected to be announced in the coming days.’Khurram Shahzad, who had been sidelined following an injury sustained during the second Test against Bangladesh, has now fully recovered. The 27-year-old fast bowler was rested during the Champions One Day Cup as a precaution, with the England series in mind. Medical reports have cleared him, and he is now available for selection.’

Aamir Jamal, who missed the series against Bangladesh due to fitness issues from an injury sustained while playing county cricket, has also regained full fitness. Jamal returned to action in the Champions One Day Cup, participating in two matches and proving his readiness for international duty. His inclusion in the squad is under serious consideration.’

The Pakistan squad will report to Multan on October 2 to begin preparations for the Test series. England’s squad is set to arrive in Pakistan on the same day. The series promises to be a key fixture in the international calendar, with both sides looking to strengthen their positions in the World Test Championship standings.’

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed last week that the second Test, originally scheduled at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi from October 15-19, has been shifted to Multan Cricket Stadium. The change comes as the Karachi venue undergoes extensive renovations ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.’ The series opener will be held in Multan from October 7-11 while the final Test will be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 24-28.’
