KARACHI: An emergency situation arose during a PIA flight from Karachi to Dubai over the Gulf of Oman as the plane descended 26,000 feet in 6 minutes. According to the PIA spokesperson, the pilot handled the situation skillfully. According to aviation sources, PIA Flight PK 213 departed from Karachi to Dubai at 2:05 last night, an hour after departure, the plane was flying at an altitude of 36,000 feet over the Gulf of Oman near Muscat. An Airbus A320 plane’s hydraulic system suffered a severe malfunction.
The plane lost 26,000 feet and reached 10,000 feet in just 6 minutes. The pilot declared an emergency on the radar and requested assistance from ATC Muscat and radar. When contacted, the PIA spokesperson said that the emergency situation had arisen due to a fault in the aircraft’s hydraulic system. During the flight, the pilot with his skill fixed the malfunction of the hydraulic system of the aircraft.
According to the sources, the pilot canceled the Muscat landing and managed to reach Dubai by flying at a very low altitude of 10,000 feet for about 50 minutes. According to the spokesperson of PIA, after the inspection at the Dubai airport, the aircraft was dispatched to the next flight. The Airbus A320 flight flew from Dubai to Islamabad and then to Skardu. In response to a question, PIA spokesperson said that due to the recent administrative situation, PIA is facing shortage of aircraft.
