LAHORE:A man, who reported a road robbery involving Rs1.5 million, has emerged as the mastermind behind the fabricated incident. The suspect, identified as Agha Farhan, was arrested along with the ‘stolen’ money.

The incident came to light after Farhan dialed 15, reporting that he had been robbed of Rs1.5 million on the road. However, upon investigation, police discovered that Farhan himself orchestrated the fake robbery to embezzle the funds.

The money had been sent to him by an overseas Pakistani Sajid from Germany with instructions to deliver the amount to Sajid’s family in the provincial capital. Instead of fulfilling the request, Farhan concocted a scheme to keep the money for himself, staging the robbery in an attempt to mislead the authorities.

However, his deception did not last long as he confessed to his crime during interrogation. A case was registered against Agha Farhan for filing a false report, and further investigations are in progress. The ‘stolen’ amount has since been recovered and the victim’s son Saghar Sajjad has expressed gratitude to the police for their swift action.
