LAHORE: Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal secured his spot in the quarterfinals of the IBSF World 6 Red Snooker Championship 2024 with a hard-fought 5-3 victory over Mongolia’s Lkhagvasuren Tumurchudur. The championship, taking place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from 21 to 25 September, has seen intense competition as players from around the world vie for the prestigious title.
In the pre-quarterfinal match, Asjad Iqbal overcame Tumurchudur with a scoreline of 5-3. Asjad started strong with a dominating 73-0 in the opening frame, but his Mongolian counterpart fought back, winning the second and third frames. However, Asjad regained control, taking the next two frames to go up 3-2. The match continued with both players trading frames, but Asjad closed out the game convincingly with a 36-04 win in the eighth frame, securing his quarterfinal spot. The final scores were 73-0, 08-56, 02-54, 57-18, 34-21, 44-0, 05-55, 36-04. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Awais Muneer was eliminated in the pre-quarterfinals by Iran’s Siyavosh Mozayani, who claimed a 4-3 victory.
