The event was graced by the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of Lahore and Patron-in-Chief of the Punjab Premier League, Owais Rao, as the chief guest.
Former Test cricketer, Taufeeq Taufeeq Umar, was the guest of honor. The event was also attended by a large number of students, former Test cricketer Humayun Farhat, international commentator Asad Ali Yunus, and Saiful Azam Khan. Addressing the ceremony, Owais Rao said that the league would be held from October 4 to 11 at the Jinnah Stadium, Gujranwala, and that the necessary NOC had been obtained from the PCB. This is the second league to be held after the PSL with the approval of the cricket board.
He expressed hope that this league would provide the Pakistan Cricket Board with new talent that would bring glory to Pakistan. Considering that most cricket events are held in Lahore, the decision was made to hold this league in Gujranwala, where day and night matches will be played under floodlights.
Taufeeq Umar said in his address that the league had been in the pipeline for a long time and was now finally coming to fruition. He said that the league would provide an opportunity for players to showcase their skills. He added that the local government is fully cooperating.
