PESHAWAR: A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar, has adjourned the hearing of the May 9 case involving Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sajid Mohmand and others until October 14.
The court summoned five police officers, including the investigating officer, to record their statements at the next hearing.ATC Judge Usman Bashir conducted the proceedings.The investigating officer and other police officials appeared in court, but their statements could not be recorded due to a strike by public prosecutors.
The judge directed the officers, including Investigating Officer Hakim and Station House Officer (SHO) Sardar Hussain to appear before the court on October 14 to record their testimonies.
The case was registered against MPA Sajid Mohmand and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers who had blocked a road during a protest in Mohmand tribal district on May 9, 2023.During the protest, the protesters blocked the road in Ghallanai, the headquarters of the Mohmand tribal district, and chanted slogans against state institutions.
Following the protest, an FIR was registered at Ghallanai Police Station. MPA Sajid Mohmand and 23 other individuals were nominated in the case. The Counter-Terrorism Department completed its investigation and submitted a challan to the court.
