Cop taken into custody for firing at speeding passenger bus
A policeman stationed at the Northern Bypass Toll Plaza in Karachi was arrested after he fired at a speeding passenger bus, causing its tire to burst.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police station. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
In response to the shooting, drivers of other passenger buses parked their vehicles on the Northern Bypass and staged a protest, causing a massive traffic jam.
According to police, Kashif Ali, who was on duty around the toll plaza as part of the S4 project had signalled the bus, which was coming from Quetta, to stop, finding it suspicious.
The bus driver, however, sped away instead of stopping the bus, upon which the cop shot at its tyre.
The police took the officer into custody and moved him to the police station, while negotiations were held with the bus drivers, following which they ended the protest, and the traffic movement on the Northern Bypass resumed.
