PARACHINAR: One person was killed and many sustained injuries when clashes erupted at two separate places over land ownership and construction of positions on Saturday.
The clashes, which occurred in the Boshehra and Balishkhel areas, also led to the closure of main highway for all the day, creating hardships for motorists and passengers alike.
Police and hospital sources said that heavy and automatic weapons were used during the clashes between the rival tribes in Boshehra.
Later, the local elders along with the police and district administration officials effected ceasefire after hectic efforts. However, intense gunfire continued in Balishkhel area due to which the main road remained closed for the entire day.
The reports on social media by some tribal people instigated others to block the highway to prevent hundreds of students from the opposing faction from reaching Peshawar for their medical entry test. The blockade caused widespread concern, especially for students traveling to take the entrance tests.
